Short Squeeze

When security that has been extensively shorted suddenly makes a substantial move upward, it triggers short-sellers to buy shares to cover their positions and limit losses. This forces more short-sellers to cover by purchasing the stock. This, in turn, attracts new buyers and drives up the prices even further. As a result of this scenario, short-sellers are squeezed out.
