Market capitalization
Market capitalization is a term used in finance to describe the value of a publicly-traded company. It is calculated by multiplying the number of shares outstanding by the current price of one share.
- Micro-cap: A micro-cap is a company with a market capitalization between $50 million and $300 million.
- Small-cap: A small-cap is a company with a market capitalization between $300 million and $2 billion.
- Mid-cap: A mid-cap is a company with a market capitalization between $2 billion and $10 billion.
- Large-cap: A large-cap is a company with a market capitalization of $10 billion or more.
The market capitalization of a cryptocurrency is the supply in circulation multiplied by the current price. Supply in circulation is the total amount of coins (or tokens) available in the market.
